God is in the Details

When God commissioned David to draw up the plans for the temple which his son Solomon would build, I am impressed by the details God provided in giving David the plan. In presenting the plan to Solomon, David believed that the plans came from the Spirit of God and upon giving them to Solomon he said; “All this the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the details of these plans” (1 Chronicles 28:11-19).

David had gathered the materials for the temple and, it would be Solomon who would follow the plans, yes, in details, in the fulfilling the will of God. And what a temple it was! The plans called for the temple to be a house of gold as the cedars of Lebanon (timber not subject to decay) and, the furnishings of the house were over laid with gold. Why such an elaborate house? The people of Israel were presenting to God the very best that they had “because the temple was NOT for man but for God” (1 Chronicles 29:1).

When the people were ask to participate in building the temple, they “gave for the work of the house of God”, and they “offered willingly” (1 Chronicles 29: 6, 7). “Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the Lord. (1 Chronicles 29:9).
